WHAT WE DO
Program Features
The G.R.O.T.T. program consists of several components that make up the educational mentorship platform. We provide critical thinking activities and workshops with communication sessions. The opportunity for Dialogue/Participation Q&A is a part of the curriculum used to incorporate brainstorming ideas and concepts.
Chess Communication
G.R.O.T.T. uses the fundamentals of the chess game to incorporate decision making and communication strategies that apply to many of life’s challenges. Mental health is a key component in providing emotional and psychological methods to strengthen one’s capacity to grow and develop.
Speech Communication
Language is a key component to understanding the principles and expectations of a task or goal. G.R.O.T.T. incorporates multilingual learning strategies that provide not only physical but broader mental perception and verbal interpretation response.

Mission
The Mission of the G.R.O.T.T. Program is to collaborate with youth and elders to provide intellectual principles and moral values that initiate change and growth. Change is warranted, change is needed, and change is going to happen.
Values
The Vision for each person who attends the program is to obtain concepts and rules that will apply to their lives. Establishing creativity and individuality while maintaining focus and composure is a fundamental principle in achieving success. Identifying a challenge and providing a positive solution is vital to our developmental outcome. Our goal is to continue to provide opportunities for individuals to achieve their maximum potential.
Leadership
About the Founder:
My name is Lamar Thomas. I grew up in the Lincoln-Lemington area of the city of Pittsburgh. My 20 years of experience in mentoring and mediation has provided statistical formulas that have been proven to reduce violence and lower recidivism. The G.R.O.T.T. (Gamma Rays Ocean Think Tank) program was created after watching the news with my wife and seeing how violence has interfered with the positive potential of promising youth.
